My full name is Maarten Jan de Jong. The 2nd of March 1944 I was born in Stolwijk (The Netherlands).
I was the firstborn. After me came 5 brothers and 3 sisters. My parents were Adam de Jong and Neeltje Pietertje van der Hee.
They were dairy farmers, like many generations of their ancestors. Together they enjoyed making good quality Gouda cheese.
Spring 1958 our family moved from Stolwijk to Bergambacht (Krimpenerwaard), to the bigger farm of granddad Sijmen van der Hee. !4 December 1966 I married Anneke de Kok, daughter of Maria Johanna Boetekees and Pieter Jacobus Anthonius de Kok. Her father died on 28 March 1945, after being shot by a German officer for refusing to hand over his bike. This tragic incident occurred six weeks before the end of WW II
